Will I experience brake noise with DRT brakes?
There are many factors that can contribute to abnormal brake noises, improper installation, low quality brake pads, defective caliper or hardware.
Is the rotor directional?
Rotors with straight or pillar vanes are non directional. Direction of cross drilled or slotted rotors can be installed on either side as long as the front and rear match.
Curved vane rotors are directional A curved vane rotor are directional must be installed as left and right the vane sweep backward from the inside running back toward the rear of the car.
Some model has single side curved vane such as Mercedes Benz. When installed the vane will run opposite direction this is design to reduced harmonic noise. Drilled or slotted pattern will run opposite.
How long does the rotor last?
There are many factors including vehicle weight, driving habit, vehicle usage, brake pad material, and many others. Therefore the life of the rotor can not be given. Rotor must be replaced when it falls below the minimum allowed thickness
Bedding Process
When replacing rotors or brake pads it should always be bedded in. Drive the vehicle between 35MPH-40MPH lightly apply brake pedal to a complete stop. Repeat process for 8-10 times. Avoid heavy braking for the first 200 miles, unless in situation to avoid an accident.
Why does some disc has more hole and some has less hole?
The number of hole in a cross drilled rotors are part of the engineering process. Size and # of vane also dictate the pattern and number of hole. Each rotor is design for maximum performance. Too many holes will reduction friction surface.
Powder Coating
Powder coating helps prevent rust. Powder is applied to the center hat and outer edge. Friction surface are not coated.
Why use drilled or slotted discs?
Cross drilled or slotted rotors aids the rotor in several ways:
The drilled hole or slot help clean and refresh the pad surface as well as providing increased brake bite. Cross drilled or Slotted rotor help prevent gasses from collecting between the pad and rotor surface.
Slotted rotor is the strongest there are no drilled holes and more aggressive with brake bite.
Cross drilled rotors are brake pad friendly.
Cross Drilled/Slotted combination is the best of both worlds. It is aggressive, yet it is very complementing for the wheels.
Warranty?
90 days warranty against manufacture defects. Will not cover for improper installation or miss handling. Any warranty exchange is to be determined by DRT for inspection. Customer is responsible for returning defective product to DRT.
